'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies'... But Who's Directing?

Earlier this week, The Los Angeles Times reported  that Mike White  was looking like a top contender to take over the reins of Lionsgate's Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, while a studio source said that Matt Reeves  was looking more unlikely. A subsequent report from the LAT, however, says that Neil Marshall is now neck-and-neck in the race with White. Further, says the paper, there's yet another new name in the mix.

The other director being considered, according to LAT sources, is Jeffrey Blitz, the filmmaker of acclaimed documentary Spellbound and the Anna Kendrick coming-of-age movie Rocket Science.

Per the LAT:

“The job has proved a tricky one for studio Lionsgate and producer Darko Entertainment, which is run by cult director Richard Kelly -- it requires a filmmaker who can adroitly handle comedy, genre and period conventions.”

David O. Russell had been on board to direct the movie but shifted gears a couple of weeks ago.

There's also still the question of cast. Those familiar with the project say Scarlett Johansson, who had previously been reported as in, won't star in the film. Bradley Cooper is still on board as Darcy, say the LAT sources, but the choice of the director could influence his decision too.

Other casting names tossed around, according to The Playlist, include Mia Wasikowska, Tilda Swinton and Catherine O'Hara.

Lionsgate says a choice is expected soon.

It's Twins For Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon

Finally, there’s something pleasant on the celebrity couple front. After the wave of high profile breakups this week, we can send our super fan well wishes towards Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. After dealing with ordeal after ordeal, including a miscarriage back in 2008, the happy couple can finally breathe a sigh of relief and joy because they’re soon to welcome not one, but two bundles of joy into their Hollywood home.

Up until now, Cannon and Carey have been hush, hush about their baby news in hopes to not jinx any possible future joy, but after her performance at TNT’s Christmas in Washington 2010 President and Michelle Obama pulled the secret out of her. I guess if the President asks you about your personal life, even the most secret people are bound to spill. After the accidental slip, the proud papa himself took to his radio show to confirm the happy news. Well, happy for now. If these kids come out with Mariah’s pipes and Cannon’s spastic nature, they’re going to be quite the handful (and ridiculously cute).

Winona Ryder Knew Mel Gibson Was Antisemitic 6Share

In a new interview with GQ, Winona Ryder talks about how she was the first person who knew Mel Gibson was homophobic and antisemitic. She says she was at one of those "big Hollywood parties," (the kind with the shoes and the pool and the blopop rings and the monkeys walking around with the chickens on the leashes) and she was with her gay friend talking to Mel Gibson, and he made a really horrible joke -- a joke bad enough, in fact, that the monkeys put the shoes on the chickens, shoved the blopops down their throats and pushed them into the pool, killing them all. Ryder says "somehow" Gibson found out she was Jewish (yeah, SOMEHOW! As in like "oh, you know what's funny? Your overwhelming Judaism that I can see from the way you're holding that martini and not blowing me!) and then he said something about "oven dodgers" and something homophobic. Ryder continued and said that after the incident at the party, she told everyone she could about Gibson's antisemitism and his homophobic tendencies, and no one believed her.

Yes yes, obviously we believe Winona now that we've heard tapes of Mel Gibson talking about how his ex-girlfriend was never talented and how the cleaning lady works for him and not her. If we could issue you a giant apology, Winona, and send you flowers from every country around the world, we would. But we can't because those royals over there in Britain are getting married, and they don't care about your little mishap with the son of a Holocaust denier. But we really are sorry...especially because you didn't get to film a sequel to S1mOne to take your mind off the ordeal.

Lindsay Lohan relocates to new rehab facility

HollywoodNews.com: In a recent turn of events, Lindsay Lohan has transferred from the Betty Ford center to a new rehab facility. Michael Lohan has confirmed that Lohan has indeed transferred to a new facility.

Lohan transferred facilities after feeling threatened by certain people who have been hounding the troubled star. Reports allege that Lohan was being harrassed by former Britney Spears manager, Sam Lufti. While Michael did confirm that her daughter was receiving messages from Sam Lufti, Lohan also said that Lufti was not the reason for the switch in facilities.

Lohan told Hollyscoop, “When I heard that Sam texted Lindsay I told him to stop immediately… (But) Sam is not the reason Lindsay was moved. It was two other individuals that caused her to move for her safety,” Digital Spy reports.

Paris Hilton unveils racing team

HollywoodNews.com: Somehow Paris Hilton has found another way to get people to talk about her. Despite the only thing that keeps the heiress busy is community service, Hilton has unveiled a rather puzzling new project. Hilton revealed that she has started her own motorcycle racing team called SuperMartxé VIP.

She made the announcement while wearing a custom, skin-tight racing outfit, complete with high-heeled boots and pink lining. Paris will not be running the team, nor will she have any technical input. She is essentially part of the deal to garner an amount of popularity and name recognition for the project. No word as to whether she will make the riders wear the same outfit that she sported, Gather reports.
